About Caitlyn
As a graphic designer in the early stages of my career, my primary goal is to create work that is both engaging and intentional, designs that communicate clearly while maintaining a sense of playfulness and personality. I am drawn to structured hierarchy and clean compositions, using them as a foundation to guide the viewer through information in a way that feels natural and easy to digest. My approach centers on designing with purpose, ensuring that each element speaks directly to the prompt while contributing to a cohesive and thoughtful visual experience.
In my practice, I place strong emphasis on detail, carefully considering relationships between scale, color, spacing, and composition elements. I’ve explored mixed media when it suits the project, finding that tactile elements can elevate a design in ways that purely digital work cannot replicate. The use of grids plays a significant role in my process, helping me create work that feels refined and adaptable to real-world environments. I strive for a balance between precision and creativity, producing designs that are polished, yet still inviting and dynamic.
My creative process begins with research and brainstorming. This is where I gather as much relevant information and inspiration as possible to inform my decisions. I typically explore multiple directions before identifying the most effective solution, allowing space for experimentation before refining a final outcome. When faced with creative blocks, I turn to both digital and real-world sources of inspiration, or step away entirely to reset my perspective. This balance between work and lived experience continuously shapes my approach and keeps my work grounded and authentic.
I am proficient in tools such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Figma, and Procreate, each offering unique opportunities to expand the scope of my work. Alongside digital skills, I have experience with mockup development, photography, and hands-on tools like Cricut machines, allowing me to bridge the gap between concept and execution. I aim to create designs that not only function effectively but also resonate with people, encouraging interaction, clarity, and a deeper connection to the content they engage with.
